Dancer, Choreographer, Artist

Ballet dancer with sixteen years of training and performance experience. Trained in classical ballet, contemporary ballet, modern, contemporary and jazz. Performed a variety of classical and contemporary works including original choreography and Broadway-style repertoire.

About Lillian

Lillian Smith is a performing artist from Teaneck, NJ. At three years old she began her training at the school of performing arts at Bergen PAC, and the New Jersey Ballet School. Lillian then continued her education at Nunnbetter Dance Theatre under the artistic direction of Leath Nunn and Ernie Prinz. While at NDT she performed principal roles in both classical and contemporary works including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, La Bayadere and Jerome Robbin's West Side Story Suite. She also annually participated in the prestigious competition, Youth America Grand Prix where she received scholarships to both the North Carolina School of the Arts and Boston Ballet Summer Intensives.

In addition to dancing Lillian has also explored her passion for performing through theater and music. In 2019 she began voice lessons with renowned vocal coach and opera singer Claudette Peterson.  Lillian was dance captain in Forbidden Theater's production of Rent and Teaneck High School’s Chicago as Roxie Hart. 

After graduation Lillian moved to Columbus Ohio, and joined BalletMet as a part of their trainee program under the leadership of Academy director Maria Torija. While at BalletMet Lillian had the opportunity to dance George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht, Western Symphony, The Sleeping Beauty, and Coppelia. Lillian has also participated in BalletMet company productions including The Nutcracker and Edwaard Liang’s Giselle. During her time at BalletMet Lillian had the chance to explore composition and choreography. Lillian’s first full choreographic work Old Fashioned  premiered in April of

2022. 

Now an NYC based dancer Lillian has performed professionally with Chevalier Ballet, when Waves Collide Dance Festival , and is a current company dancer with CityDanceNY and Hudson Ballet Theatre. More recent works she has performed include Sarah Knight's Joplin Michael Buoni's Javanaise and The Snow Queen as well as Marika Brussel's By a Thread and Aaron Thao's Iago v. Othello
